Dry and clear

25th February 2023

Clouds at first cleared to give a dry sunny day. Snow cover is now very patchy at most levels. Today I went up Fionn Bheinn and it is easy to get to reach summit without touching snow, many hills slopes and ridges are now bare of snow.  However the patches that remain on the steep North-East facing slopes below the summit are very firm and icy. Pictures give an idea of the remaining snow cover. While snow cover is now very limited all remaining snow is very firm and generally in steep locations where a slip would be very serious.

The Fisherfield hills, unfortunately I left the summit before the cloud had fully cleared these hills.
