Blue skies and sunshine

26th February 2023

The weather today was as good as it gets, its just a shame there isn’t more snow. Blue skies and sunshine gave some good views though. Todays viewpoint was Beinn Dearg, a Corbett with good views to Beinn Allagain and Liathach. Pictures below give a good indication of the remaining limited snow cover. The snow is very patchy however patches are very firm and icy. The largest notable area of snow is on Liathach on the the North-East and South-East facing slopes below Spidean a’ Choire Leith. A slip here would be very serious. Many other hills are mostly snow free.

North-East and South-east aspects on Spidean a’ Coire Leith on Liathach still holding snow.

On the approach to Beinn Dearg. A Corbett with stunning views in every direction on a day like today.

The North side of Liathach, only a few slivers of snow in some of the gullies. Next pictures show a closer look. Unfortuanlety picture quality is limited by the sun.
