Strong winds and snow showers

31st January 2023

Very strong winds were the main feature of today. There were snow showers through the day but much of the fresh snow was blown from the high areas into hollows at lower elevations. Winds overnight tonight while still strong will be a little lighter than today and decrease in speed through the day. As wind speeds begin to moderate, drifting and further snow showers will start to build fresh windslab at higher elevations. Another period of thaw conditions then follows overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

Creag Dubh, Beinn Eighe this morning, despite heavy showers there is limited build up of new snow due to the Storm force winds at higher elevations.

Snow drifting at lower elevations.

Looking across to Slioch. Again limited fresh snow.
