Mild, wet and windy

29th January 2023

For most of the day today the weather was mild, very wet and very windy. The remaining snowpack was thawing at all elevations. The visibility was poor at most levels so pictures from the hill are limited. The temperature did start to drop towards the end of the afternoon. The bottom 3 pictures are taken around 4pm after the weather improved and when the freezing level was dropping. It is due to be colder overnight and during the day tomorrow so expect the remaining snow to be firm. Greatest snow accumulations are in gullies, and around coire rims with many ridges now bare of snow. There will be some fresh snow overnight but new accumulations are expected to be small.

About as good as views got this morning. The ridges of Sgurr a Chaorachain .

The high point for today. This is near the summit of Sgurr a Chaorachain, the weather station which is only just visible is about 100metres away.
