Little snow in the glen but lots in the coires.

15th January 2023

A cold start to the day but we did get the occasional fleeting brighter period. There is hardly any snow below 500 metres but there is good cover above with hard, knee deep trail breaking in the coires. Winds were North-North- Westerly today and it felt very cold. Areas of unstable windslab are developing and gaining depth on wind sheltered North through East to South aspects higher on our mountains where some cornices are visible.

Spidean Coire nan Clach had plenty snow – up over the knees this morning.

Some previous avalanche debris seen on a South-East aspect, probably set off by a cornice collapse from yesterday.

View over towards Sgurr na Fhir Duibhe (Beinn Eighe).

View southwards over the shoulder of Stuc Coire an Laoigh.
