Gales today

19th January 2023

Rain and sleet showers at lower elevations today, with snow falling above. By the road side at Achnasheen the snow is thawing but remaining deep giving hard travel conditions on the hill. I was on my ski-touring gear but my skins balled up with the wet snow within half an hour. Driving rain and sleet at first but showers turning to snow and some graupel at higher levels. The freezing level is returning to lower levels by tomorrow evening, but then we can expect some change as it is expected to rise again to much higher levels for the weekend.

A grey day with poor visibility.

Lots of drifting.

I was kind of dry as I sorted out my gear back at the road side, it has been the best testing conditions for my shell clothing and gloves!
