A Snowy Torridon Today
27th December 2022
Snow remained in Kinlochewe overnight and rendered the driving conditions this morning a little challenging! Below a photo leaving Kinlochewe heading out on the road to Torridon.

The weather was kind to us this morning and gave us a brief window of good visibility before the snow arrived mid-morning. Below a photo looking up towards Creag Dhubh on the eastern end of Beinn Eighe. Underfoot conditions where challenging, breaking through deep snow at times to slippy rocks beneath.

Working conditions at the snow profile site today were a tad unpleasant. The photo below is taken looking onto a North East aspect at around 660m.

As we retreated from the snow profile site we deliberately triggered a small slab. The fresh windslab layer was very fragile and weakly bonded, fracturing easily underfoot.
