Clear and Dry

10th April 2022

Today was clear and dry with light winds and rising freezing levels. There were spells of sunshine and the snowpack was consolidating with the warmer dry weather. A gradual thaw of the lower lying snow has started and will continue over the next few days. Despite the warmer temperatures it is very much still winter in the hills just now. While the new snow is soft and thawing the older snow patches are very firm and icy. Today was a good day for views, the first few pictures are taken from the summit of Spidean Coire nan Clach, Beinn Eighe.

Looking towards Sgurr Ban and Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe, Beinn Eighe.

Looking back into Coire an Laoigh on descent. There is enough snow to make progress hard work. However this snow is soft and will melt quickly in the warmer temperatures.
