Thawing and breezy

1st February 2022

Almost a return to winter or so we hoped! Storm Corrie left its mark but unfortunately for those of us into winter sports there has been milder temperatures with the freezing level above the summits, stripping away any new snow. We are back to very little snow with only deeper older patches and ribbons remaining along the wind sheltered ridge flanks and the tops of gullies. These patches of snow are softening although generally stable. Water courses are on spate making crossings quite awkward.

View into Coire an Laoigh, depleting snow.

Liathach.

The river is running full.
