Lighter winds and good views !

25th February 2022

It was a great day to be out in the North-West Highlands.  Finally a chance to enjoy the views and get a clear picture of the snow distribution.

(Above) Early morning on the Achnashellach mountains.

(Above) Blue skies above Creag Dhubh at the east end of Beinn Eighe, above Kinlochewe.

(Above) looking up the east Ridge of Creag Dhubh.  Conditions were mostly firm and icy with isolated pockets of moderately bonded windslab.

(Above) Views over towards Coire Domhain. The lighter coloured snow shows the distribution of the windslab.
