Feeling Wintry

24th February 2022

A blustery morning on the hill with South-West winds and the occasional shower. There was snow down to the road side with a more continuos covering of snow starting from around 300 meters and improving cover above. There was less snow amounts than I expected but never the less it felt very wintry and cold on the hill with plenty drifting. There is a wide spread surface crust which is breakable at lower levels and requires crampons at higher elevations.

Sgurr nan Duibhe from the coire floor.

Liathach looking more wintry.

Looking into Stuc Coire an Laoigh as we walked about as we took our observations and field tests.
