Covid-19

22nd March 2020

Covid-19 – SAIS Statement: At this time the Scottish Avalanche Information Service is continuing to produce avalanche reports, providing vital information for our Emergency Services.  The provision of these reports will be continually reviewed in line with government policy and the welfare of our Forecasters.
Scottish Mountain Rescue: The Scottish Government has stated that “essential travel only must be undertaken” in order to protect our rural communities and prevent extra pressure on our Emergency Services.   Now is the time to avoid unnecessary mountain activities and consider our social responsibilities.

Please note the difference in snow distribution and stability that can occur in different parts of the area. There is significant difference between the coastal hills around Torridon and the Fannichs. Hopefully this is explained in the published forecast. It’s worth noting how conditions  here can vary over short instances from the coast.
