Unsettled.

24th February 2020

There were some views first thing this morning (all be in a bit grey) and then on the hill there was very poor visibility with fresh Easterly winds and lots of drifting. Significant snow transportation with lots of graupel in the snow pack and in many locations the wind slab is depositing onto an icy surface crust with a weak interface. For winter climbers the positive news is that the ice is forming although the winds are strong. Ice conditions are thin and there is plenty of cascading spindrift and airborne fragments to sting ones skin. Underfoot conditions are difficult with breakable crust and careful route choice is required.

I did get to see Liathach this morning.

and a view Coire an Laoigh up onto Spidean Coire nan Clach.

In the coire itself visibility was poor and just got worse.
