Fine Morning, Deteriorating Later

10th January 2020

Although there is generally a shallow overall cover of snow, it felt very wintry in the Fannaichs today. Strong winds and -2C on the summits gave a high windchill. Good walking conditions but icy paths and verglassed rocks at higher elevations. Mild, wet and windy tomorrow I’m afraid.

An optimistic start with a good sunrise over Beinn Dearg.

Really only a dusting of snow above 650m.

The southern aspects of Beinn Dearg.

An Teallach

Looking west from the summit of Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich onto the east face of Sgurr Mor with Carn na Criche and Meall a’ Chrasgaidh to the right.

With strengthening winds, some snow redistribution occurring onto NE aspects.
