Sparse snow, briefly nice this morning!

30th December 2019

Our snow is disappearing with only patches remaining above 850 metres. I walked into the East end of Beinn Eighe today meeting several hillwalkers and one runner moving at a fast pace. He stopped briefly to exchange pleasantries. It was nice enough in the showers this morning and there were occasional bright periods. Lower down the travel conditions are good. Now, ( its the afternoon) as I write this blog and outside it is over cast and wet with a chance of a very slight dusting of new snow on our higher summits, but if the snow does come it will thaw again tomorrow as the freezing level is forecast to rise well above the summits.

Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe

Slioch looking rather bare.

The Bodaich Dubh (Black Carls) of Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe – not much snow remaining.
