Uncool!

14th February 2019

A disappointing day – very mild, light rain and drizzle with low cloud. The snowpack is becoming patchy, is thawing at all levels and generally well consolidated and stable. The ‘snowline’ is around 600m with greatest accumulations above 850m. The highlight of the day was watching a Golden Eagle playing on the wind – cool!

As good as it got on Meall an t-Sithe – the site for todays ‘observations’ and snow profile. At only 600m and normally a great wee hill with 360 views, the cloud clung doggedly to the summit – uncool!

Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich. The cloud base fluctuated between 500m and 700m although late brightness allowed some views to higher elevations.

A tad more snow remains in the northern coires of An Teallach.

The SW end of the Fannaichs.
