On skis today

30th January 2019

Another good day with sunshine and a few snow showers. After lots of trail breaking on foot in soft snow yesterday I decided to head out on skis today and made much better progress.

There was some accumulation of snow from the showers but more from the redistribution of the soft snow already on the ground by the fresh Westerly wind.

Snowy trees in the Achnasheen plantation.

Snow accumulating quickly due to redistribution in the fresh wind on an West aspect at 700 metres.

A mixture of fresh wind packed snow and older icier snow near the summit of Fionn Bheinn.

Slioch hiding in the cloud with Sgurr Dubh in the sun.

Good snow cover and good skiing down to 300 metres. Getting thinner below this but still skiable to the car.
