Hill Fog and Drizzle

11th January 2019

No snow observed today in the Torridon mountains. More rain will approach from the west, with a risk of thunder as the rain turns to heavy showers overnight behind the cold front. Quite an unsettled weekend ahead as several weather fronts and associated strong winds cross the Highlands with fleeting periods of summit sleet and snow.

The occasional brighter spell appeared later. Looking across Glen Torridon through the lighter mizzle!

The SAIS is sponsored, among others, by Gore (based in Livingston) and Mountain Equipment. In return, we are able to contribute to R n D by testing various garments. It’s lovely to see the rain ‘beading’ on our waterproofed gloves – cozy and warm in the 5.7C heat!
