Wintry weather.

3rd April 2018

Kinlochewe had a wintry feeling today with snow flakes down to the road side but an obvious greyish snow line at around 450 metres on Liathach and Beinn Eighe. There is definitely wind slab instabilities building on the higher wind sheltered scarp slopes and coire rims. The weather seemed a shade nicer but still very cold over towards Applecross. There is heavy snow forecast for the Torridon mountains in the next 24 hour period.

Wintry looking Liathach.

Poor visibility looking into Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe.

Beinn Bhan from the road side – its icy.

The climbing buttresses of Meall Gorm seen from Sgurr a’ Chaorachain. There were some ice slivers although the rock is rather dry and bare.
