A day of variable visibility.

25th March 2018

It has been -3 degrees on the summits with Westerly winds however there was not as much snow as expected although areas of wind slab are developing on high wind sheltered (lee) coire rims. This morning seemed to give better views as the clouds came down a bit obscuring the summits for a while. Having just written that a ray of sun is shining  through the window into our office at the Field Centre, so there are some nice bright periods still… it is Scotland after all! The mountain travel is wonderful, blustery in the wind with good snow cover above 600 metres.

The north side of Liathach is still looking wintry.

Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe and the crags below Bodaiach Dubh are very wintry.

There was a nice light reflected over Loch Clair this morning.
