Fine Day

8th April 2017

Warm, dry and bright in Torridon today. No new snow and clear summits – mostly! The few snow patches that remain continue to thaw at all levels and reduce in size.  After a bright start, thickening cloud and persistent rain will develop by midday Sunday, this rain will steadily turn to sleet or wet snow above 750m as it becomes colder from the northwest. The fresh to strong SW wind will veer W through the day. The old snow will firm up at higher elevations as the freezing level lowers to around 800m in the afternoon. A bit of a winter kicker!(Above)  Beinn Alligin and Liathach from the south, looking across upper Loch Torridon.  Snow?(Above)  Looking down Glen Torridon. From L to R; Sgurr Dubh, Liathach, Beinn Eighe, Meall a’ Ghiuthais.  Snow?(Above)  The rivers are low in the relatively dry and warm conditions of late.(Above)  Great mountain walking conditions today. But apparently, it was too warm for good bouldering!  Ma boys at the Torridon boulders this afternoon.
