Hot in the Sun!

10th March 2016

It was cold and frosty with icy footpaths first thing this morning. But it soon warmed up in the sun. Milder air pushed in from the west on a southerly wind. The views were sharp.

IMGP6324 (800x600)

The main ridge of Liathach. The tracks of folk ascending/descending on this south side were clearly visible as were single point sloughs, sometimes starting from immediately below the summit ridges.

IMGP6314 Stitch (800x278)

A panorama looking across Glen Torridon onto Liathach and Beinn Eighe. A bank of cloud is obvious out to the west; the approach of a more unsettled period.

IMGP6318 Stitch (800x227)

The Achnashellach hills, south side of Glen Torridon.

IMGP6323 (800x400)

Some obvious snow transportation as the southerly wind strengthened and before the temperature rose above the summits. Accumulations of fresh windslab will be developing on sheltered locations.
