Chilly start to a dry and bright day

5th March 2019

A chilly start to the morning, the windscreen of my vehicle needed a little scrape. But the day turned out bright, dry and clear with good snow cover above 600 m. to the highest sumits. By lunch time it was obvious that some sun exposed aspects and ridges were clearing of snow and in generally the snow pack is consolidating. The freezing level is remaining at around 600 metres so perhaps the hills will keep their winter look for a while yet.

Perhaps not so obvious in this image but there was some sloughing.

Quite good snow cover.

Magnificent views of the Liathach this morning.

View over towards the East, there is probably a bit more snow inland.

Looking over towards Stuc Coire an Laoigh to Loch Clair.

A closer look at Liathach.
