Dry with Hill Fog

4th January 2019

Weather continues to be under the influence of high pressure; dry, moderate winds but cloudy with a Stratocumulus layer hugging the summits. The cloud base fluctuated between 650m to 800m and obvious breaks in the cloud developed later in the day. With the main freezing level holding around summit levels, little change in the very limited snow cover. Most mountains remain snow free!

Above 2 photos – Cloud layer around 700m. on the Fannaichs, Great Wilderness mountains and An Teallach.

No point in going any higher for observations! This photo was taken at 710m.

Above photos - 4 types of lichen. When there is flat light and no views, time to focus on the macro.
