Rain, Rain then Showers!

16th March 2017

A day for a low level walk; perhaps the coastal route from Diabaig to Alligin then a coffee and cake in the Torridon café! Initially, gale force winds and driving rain at all levels eased into blustery showers, turning increasingly wintry, with a dusting of fresh snow above 600 metres by mid afternoon. Snow showers persisting overnight and tomorrow with windslab developing in sheltered locations.(Above)  Creag Dhubh as seen through the rain from Anancaun.(Above) The bare backside (Northerly aspects) of Creag Dhubh and Beinn Eighe ridge as seen through some not so heavy rain from the slopes of Meall a’Ghiuthais.(Above)  Rain turning to wintry showers by mid morning on Meall a’Ghiuthais .Creag Dhubh/Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe and Ruadh-stac Beag on the right. By mid afternoon, some bright spells between the showers and a dusting of snow lying above 600 metres.
