Gales

14th March 2017

Frequent intense showers today, trucking along in severe Westerly gales and storm force winds at summit level. The snowpack continues to thaw. No fresh snow observed on the tops by mid afternoon and unlikely to be any significant amounts over the next 36 hours. Below are a selection of photos of Beinn Eighe and Liathach to show the extent of the snow loss and widespread bare areas.(Above)  The classic view of Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe from near Kinlochewe, before it disappeared into the next heavy shower.(Above)  Some brightness!
