Better Visibility.

22nd March 2016

After a damp morning with low cloud the summits appeared. First impression is that there is very little snow left. The snow that does remain though is very firm in many places.

The area seems much busier with tourists this week than it has been. Foreign registered cars and more camper vans are beginning to appear. Above, looking over Loch Torridon, Liathach on the right.

On the East to West traverse of Liathach today the preferred option seemed to be to stay on the snow free crest of the ridge and scramble over the pinnacles rather than follow the bypass path which was often still under snow in the tops of the gullies…..with long run outs onto rock!

As usual, greatest accumulations on Easterly aspects. Beinn Eighe from Kinlochewe.
