Coire Mhic Fhearchair
11th February 2025
Gale force winds made progress challenging today and poor visibility restricted observations. It was a dry day, but there was the occasional snow flurry, indicating that there may well have been a few more in the Eastern parts of the Torridon forecasting area, although its anticipated these wouldn’t have been significant.
There were more runners and mountain bikers seen in the hills today than walkers, but any activity was challenging with the wind strength and the associated wind chill. Thankfully there was no sight of any wild swimmers.
Carn an Feola 761m on the Eastern end of Beinn Dearg (left), Baosbeinn 875m (centre) and Beinn an Eoin 855m (right). Icy paths are a continuing theme.
The lower section of Morrison’s Gully on Sáil Mhór.
The waterfalls at the out flow of Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair. Icy on the outside but plenty of water flowing behind.
Triple Buttresses on Beinn Eighe. This was as clear as it got in the coire today.
Far East Wall in Coire Mhic Fhearchair.
Ice and white horses on Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair. No drifting snow was observed today but there was plenty of spray being blown off the loch!

Indeed, an incredibly atmospheric place, particularly in gale force winds!
