Meall nan Peithirean

It was bitterly cold on the hill today. The summit temperatures were around -4 degrees Celsius but with the wind chill from the very strong Easterly winds it felt around -14 degrees Celsius. There was an unexpected very light dusting of fresh snow, as low as 500 metres on some Northerly to Easterly aspects. The old snow remained firm at all levels.
Looking across Loch Fannich to the North and East facing coires of Toll Mòr and Toll Beag on Fionn Bheinn. The light dusting of fresh snow can be seen on these slopes. Icy paths were a key feature when making todays observations and the same is to be expected for tomorrow.

Looking across to Meall Gorm (949m). The light dusting of fresh snow can be observed on the low lying hills to the left of Meall Gorm. Always good to bump into folk out enjoying the hills. Goggles were kept on during this interaction due to the windchill and very light (but sore) drifting snow.
