If you had to guess the time of year !

19th January 2025

The current suspension of Avalanche hazard reports will continue until the conditions change. It does not look likely that this will change in the next few days, but we will continue to review it on a daily basis. We will also continue to post weather information on the report page. It does turn colder over the next few days, with a dusting of snow forecast Monday night into Tuesday morning, but nothing significant is expected.

A stunning day in Torridon today, with quite a few folk taking advantage of the weather and getting out onto the tops.

Looking at the pictures, and without any other reference as to when they were taken, I would imagine most folk would not guess at January! More like May, or even early June. (Although the long shadows and the angle of the sun is a bit of a giveaway.)

Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe. This held the most snow on the mountain at the beginning of last week. Pretty much gone now.

Beinn Damh. Although the surrounding area and estate is stated as Damph, the hill itself is spelt Damh on maps. Not sure why the discrepancy?
