Windy windy windy.
29th January 2016
Very heavy rain, summit temperatures of plus 5 and extremely strong winds stripped most of the snow from the Torridon hills during Thursday night. Rivers were high in the morning but quickly dropped back as the temperature fell.
By early afternoon winds had moderated but summit gusts still exceeded 80 mph making progress very difficult.
At the Kishorn to Applecross road junction is the Bealach Cafe and Gallery. During the winter it is open on Fridays and Saturdays. Great coffee, cakes and a roaring fire. Well worth a visit!
Little snow remains on Beinn Eighe. By the end of the day the wet snow of this morning had become very firm. A fair amount of snow forecast for Friday evening and Saturday with continuing very strong winds.
