A stormy winter solstice

Today is the winter solstice so the good news is that the days are now getting longer although the amount of extra daylight that we get at this time of year is very small. Storm force Westerly winds today made movement in the mountains difficult. Amounts of fresh snow were small and only above 800 metres. More snow is expected overnight and tomorrow.

Not the best day for photography but some shots from the Torridon area below.

The photos above don’t really show how windy it was today but the effect of the wind on the waterfalls below is obvious.
