Storm Bert Delivers!

23rd November 2024

Atrocious mountain conditions throughout the day and although tomorrow there will be less strong winds, milder temps and more showery precipitation, continued poor mountain conditions are expected. As the expected mild air did not reach the NW by late afternoon (+1C at 250m, 4pm in the Fannaichs), precipitation remained as snow above around 400m. Thawing at summit levels and above expected overnight and through tomorrow.

No photos of the higher peaks, but showing a general thawing at lower elevations.

(Above) Not much to see at 250m midday on the Dirrie More, Fannaichs.

(Above) Clear of snow at sea level around Ullapool and a stormbound Stornoway ferry.

(Above) Looking across Loch Broom to coastal hill of Beinn Ghobhlach – 635m.
