Before the rain
12th April 2024
This morning was brighter than expected with rain holding off till early afternoon. It did however remain mild and windy with a continued depletion of the remaining snow.
As the photos below show, only patches remain. Snow patches are generally confined to coire rims and rims and ridge flanks on North to East aspects above 800 metres and predominately on the most inland hills in the forecast area. Many coastal hills are largely snow free.
Gale force South-Westerly winds will continue tomorrow. Showers through the day will become heavier in the afternoon and turn to snow above around 750 metres. New snow accumulations are not expected to be significant and will often overlie bare ground.
