Unseasonably Mild and Stormy
14th December 2021
A mild, wet and windy day. Persistent driving light rain and drizzle at all levels with hill fog, easing slightly in the afternoon. South-Westerly gales. Freezing level well above the summits.
The depleted snowpack is wet and thawing at all levels and is generally stable throughout. Little snow remains below 600 metres, whilst most snow exists above 800 metres, on North through East to South-East aspects.
Are these weather and snowpack conditions unseasonal, or is this going to be more like the norm…?
