Sunshine on Beinn Eighe.

Early cloud dissipated by mid morning to give a dry day with much sunshine! It actually felt warm in the sun and sheltered from the Northerly breeze. All change tomorrow as mild conditions arrive to give rain at all levels by midday. There will be wet snow instabilities developing in the existing areas of moderately bonded windslab and the larger cornices will be prone to collapse.
Above. Early morning light on Beinn Eighe. Good snow cover on the SE slope of Creag Dhubh, whilst it is scoured on the north side of the east ridge.
Above. Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe. Much fresh snow at mid levels in this wind sheltered coire.
Above. Tiresome trail breaking on one’s todd – fresh snow overlying a breakable crust! But it could be worse. Circled on the lower slope of Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe are two climbers heading (flogging) up the slope to climb on the crags on the north side of the mountain. Good effort!
Above. Sun induced single point releases were noted on the southern aspects of Sgurr Ban. Large cornices are visible on the ridge skyline.
