Bright start didn’t last. Dreich

A bright dry start to the day with the tops almost visible. Little evidence of the forecast snow but there was a smattering of fresh snow overlying old snow at the observations site. The two pictures below gives a fair representation of the lack of snow near the coast.
Above, looking into Coire an Laoigh with the top of Sgurr Ban hidden by cloud in the centre of the photo. There is more snow lying in the base of the Western part of the corrie, one of the usual routes up onto the main ridge.
Below, The East end of Beinn Eighe holds the greatest amount of remaining snow. Snow that does remain continues to be firm underfoot.
