Cloudy and Mild

A relatively pleasant morning with bright spells but summit cloud persisted. Overnight rain and snow cleared in the morning turning to light scattered showers before more rain arrived later in the day. The snowpack is slowly thawing at most elevations, with a noticeable rise in snow level.
Cloud and a brighter spell over Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich this morning. Note that the lowers hills are ‘blackening up’ in the thaw.
A closer view of the North Top of Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich. Good snow cover remains above 600 metres, but more rocks and vegetation are exposed due to the milder temperatures, particularly where the snow cover was thin.
Meall a’ Chrasgaidh and Sgurr nan Clach Geala in the cloud behind. Shallow snow cover on the exposed shoulder leading to the summit of Meall a’ Chrasgaidh is likely to freeze up tomorrow, becoming icy in places at higher elevation as the freezing levels lowers throughout the day. Similarly, breakable crust will likely form tomorrow on the surface of the softer damp snowpack.
Cloud base around 800 metres on An Teallach. The cliffs on the backwall of Toll an Lochain coire are becoming darker as the snow thaws.
