Alpine morning on Beinn Eighe

7th February 2020

A stunning Alpine like morning in Torridon, more like April than February though. Frosty in the glen but much warmer on the tops.

Below, Creag Dhubh, 907 metres, East end of Beinn Eighe.

Above, Bodaich Dubh (Black Carls). An interesting section of ridge at 900 metres between Creag Dhubh and Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe.  Despite a perception amongst many that there is ‘no snow’ good mountaineering remains. Sadly though it’s a wild wild forecast for tomorrow.

Below, spot the lone walker. The photo above and below are of high Easterly aspects where most snow remains.

Below, later in the day the sky clouded over. Pyramid buttress on Liathach from near the main car park at the bottom of  Coire Dubh Mor.
