50 Shades of Gray

27th March 2019

Lovely to hear a Curlew today in the fields above Achnasheen. I felt a bit like a wader myself, squelching through boggy ground in the mist and heavy drizzle on the way up Fionn Bheinn – even had to dust off my map and oil the compass…. Pretty mild and gloomy on the hill – plus 10C in Achnasheen. Very similar snowpack to yesterday – thawing, wet and patchy.

The Fannaich hills. A touch of brightness on the more inland hills first thing this morning.

Thought I’d escape the cloud and drizzle today on Fionn Beinn above Achnasheen – wrong! Cloud base was generally around 500m and heavier ‘drizzle’ on the hill than in the glen.

Snow patches at around 700m. and a pea-souper!

Erosion from vehicle tracks at around 500m. height on Fionn Bheinn.

    ‘Gray’ – creeping Americanisation.
The Spelling Police have been informed.
(No doubt we’ll be seeing ‘sluffs’ in your reports soon?)

Good point ‘That Guy’. But I did check the name of the film and changed it to ‘a’. Aye. Eh?
