Spring-Like

13th March 2018

Spring-like conditions today, both in the snowpack and weather. I neglected to take my sunglasses - a schoolboy error - as it was cloudy initially, but good sunny spells developed later with localised and isolated but heavy showers appearing by midday. Soft snowpack at lower to mid levels but generally stable throughout.

Some fresh snow on Slioch this morning as it appeared through the clouds.

Liathach shrouded in cloud.

Thickening cloud ahead of a heavy localised shower over the south Torridon hills. Patchy snowline around 500 metres with good snow cover above 650 metres.

Fragile snow bridges above burn lines are a risk during periods of thaw, particularly at lower elevations.

Saggy but old cornice lines above steep Easterly aspect slopes in Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe.

Depleting snowpack on the lower slopes of Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe, Beinn Eighe.
