Grim with Thunder and Lightning!

Intense heavy and prolonged showers through the day, big enough for the occasional flash and rumble and falling as snow above 400 metres. Significant drifting of snow particularly during the showers in the very strong South-Westerlies. More of the same tomorrow, although lighter showers and winds.
Motivation was at a low this morning as I sat in the Glen Torridon carpark, the car being buffeted in the squally heavy rain and sleet showers!
The east end of Liathach occasionally came into view through the snow and spindrift.
The Mountain Equipment Gore-Tex working hard in the driving sleet. Heavy soft snow on the footpath, thawing below 400 metres.
A glimpse into Coire Dhuibh Bhig, Liathach, a cauldron of spindrift, but some good ice exists.
Cross loading in sheltered gullies and couloirs evident on the wind exposed southern aspects of Coinneach Mhor, Beinn Eighe. The wind is funnelled between Liathach and Beinn Eighe at this point.
Happiness is a brief break in the showers! Large amounts of snow transportation on Sgurr Dubh (782m), south side Glen Torridon.
