Rhona the Rowan

6th January 2018

Each season I visit a lonesome Rowan tree hanging in there at 570 metres on the East shoulder of Meall a’ Ghiuthais. It’s a metaphor for survival, taking advantage of circumstances and accepting ones lot in life. Anyway, as expected, it was a day for classic sharp winter views. Bitterly cold in the NE wind and it remains very wintry above 650 metres.

Rhona the Rowan with north top Meall a’Ghiuthais in the background – the location of today’s snow profile. Spot the Golden Easgle!

High flying Golden Eagle – honest! Heading towards Meall a’ Ghiuthais.

Beinn Eighe, north side. Creag Dhubh on the left, Ruadh-stac Mor on the right with the Corbett of ruadh-stac Beag centre.

Across Loch Maree to Slioch and Fhionn Bheinn far right.

      Hi Gregor
Nice. A sighting like that can make the day. You must have had a great day on Western Buttress.
