Sunbow Day.

Nice day to be out in the mountains with a constantly changing backdrop, although it was a bit misty on the tops. There remains a reasonable snowcover throughout with areas of deeper drifts, most of which are weight bearing above 700 metres. Some breakable crust at lower elevations. Minor weaknesses persist in localised areas of windslab – check out the forecast pages.
(Above) A sunbow through An Teallach and Loch a’ Bhraoin. The snowline is around 550 metres and there are obvious bare, previously scoured slopes on An Teallach – South-East aspect.
(Above)Â In the Fannaich mountains. Good, but generally shallow snowpack with deeper drifts, L to R; Sgurr nan Clach Geala, Sgurr nan Each and Sgurr Breac.
(Above)Â Some depth to the snowpack in places. Summit cloud persisted through the day on Toman Coinnich and A’Chailleach above Toll an Lochain
(Above)Â Snow drifts that have been deposited from opposing directions – a reflection of the recently changing wind directions.
