Cloudy

19th March 2016

Low cloud and drizzle initially, but with brighter spells as the cloud base lifted to around 800 metres later. Cooler than of late, but at lower levels, the slowly thawing snowpack was soft and wet on the surface. Firmer higher up. Lots of ‘peeping’ heard from the newly arrived Golden Plovers.

Low inversion cloud and pulses of drizzle.

Old glide cracks. However, the snowpack could move during a further heavy thaw.

The cracks are full depth with the snowpack sliding on grass and heather below a small outcrop.
