Warm and windy

17th March 2026

Overnight rain and warm temperatures have had a significant effect on the snow cover. The greatest accumulations are now found mostly on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres, particularly on terrain features such as gully lines, ridge flanks and high coires.

Liathach.

Stable isothermal snow at 550 metres. Fionn Bheinn weather station at 925 metres was reading 5 degrees for much of the day so I suspect the surface snow will be a similar temperature on the higher summits.
