A slow thaw

7th March 2026

The freezing level rose above the summits this morning and there was a slow thaw of all lying snow. Despite this stability remains good in all locations. A gusty gale force Southerly wind made walking difficult at higher elevations. There was some cloud at around summit level in the West of the area with less cloud further East.

The snowpack in the Torridon area is now patchy with best cover on North-West through North to East aspects above 750 metres.
