A Bright Day on Beinn Eighe

2nd March 2026

A nice contrast to yesterday but unnerving very strong and gusty winds at higher elevations, snow cover is limited but what there is was softening in the surface layers in the sunshine but still pretty consolidated at depth. Tomorrow, a bright day expected lighter winds but the old snow remains very firm with serious runouts for any falls.

Beinn Eighe – Coire an Laoigh with snowfields still present for route up to Spidean Coire nan Clach

Surprisingly firm on this sunny East facing slope high on the backwall of Coire an Laoigh.
