Continued thaw

26th February 2026

Thaw conditions continued overnight and through today with the snow cover continuing to diminish and river levels remaining very high. Snow cover is becoming increasingly patchy, however significant areas of snow remain in some corries and gullies above around 750 metres and around the higher summits. These areas will become very firm through Friday and Saturday as a ridge of high pressure becomes established and the freezing level falls.

Most of todays photos are from the North side of Beinn Eighe. Many of the higher summits remained hidden in the cloud and will have slightly more snow than the areas shown today.
