Mild

24th February 2026

Very mild this morning. Had a journey over to the West end of our patch today, to see how much less snow is over that way. It was as suspected, in that there is significantly more snow on the inland mountains of the Fannichs and Fionn Bheinn, than there is in the more coastal mountains of Beinn Bhan. Also, I suspect the inland mountains will resist the current thaw over the next couple of days better.

Very wet conditions forecast throughout the day tomorrow, which could lead to some wet instability within the existing snowpack. This in turn has the potential to cause some small wet snow avalanches on very steep ground at high elevations. As always, please see the forecast report for more information.

Thankfully, by the weekend it does look like there will be a return to colder conditions, with some fresh snow on the tops.
